Within this framework the School ensures that all its students gain the tools of critical thinking and exacting analysis to prepare them for personal growth and professional success. While the curriculum is flexible and broad, it also allows students to focus their learning environment and tailor their coursework to reflect their own particular passions. Please take the time to explore the Arts & Sciences curriculum pages in the catalogue (click on the link below). Then let me know how I, Dean of Arts & Sciences, can help you.

Philip I. Moynihan
Ph.D. in Arts and Sciences

Moynihan's Thesis, "Synthetic Sentience: The Emergence Of Computer Awareness Through Evolving Complexity In Nanotechnology"

"This thesis hypothesizes that macrosystems composed of a vast number of self-assembled nanoelectronic structures will come to possess a state of complexity sufficient to lead to an emerging sentience. One could expect these nanostructures to be made up of countless single-electron transistors responsive to quantum effects designed so that they produce self-organizing quantum-coherent states. There is strong evidence that an ordered decoherence of tens of milliseconds will produce consciousness...."
